What does being a father mean to you?
A father means sacrificing a pieces of you overtime until you’ve built a kingdom. These pieces shape shape your children and your family. Being a father means to be present while being persistent in your endeavors that demonstrate perseverance, patience, and poise. Being a father means to show strength and compassion, leading with vulnerability and being solid. It’s means a love that is truly unconditional.
Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.
I love my father and every experience that I had. He was the epitome of strength and hard work. He showed me that a man could do anything with his hands. Very handy. He was very prideful and I share that same trait. Today I am always wanting to fix things and find solutions to any of my family’s issues no matter how big or small just like my father did.
What things/tools/gems did you take from your experience growing up into your Fatherhood journey today?
I would say strength, patience, communication, ability to see different perspectives are some gems I took. Loyalty and kindness.

Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey? If so, explain.
Everyday lol but obstacles I would say losing my job and being unemployed for over half a year was a huge obstacle. I’m a man of pride and I have always been the provider so after a few weeks of resting after losing a job you began to get restless and u believe something will come quick and it doesn’t. You start to get depressed and down because you can provide how you once did. I would also say going through the first 5 years of marriage as a father and you and your wife having those back to back to back pregnancies were an obstacle emotionally and mentally. Switching careers was an obstacle because I had dreams but I am a provider and I believe in practicality when providing so dreams weren’t going to take care of a family or 6 so I went back to school and earned my BS in CyberSecurity and I was hired right out of school and I have been in this well paying career ever since. Going on year 5.
What advice would you give other Fathers on their journey?
Pray, keep the faith. Don’t let anything or anyone stop you from being the best father you can be. Be patient. Make sure you still take time for yourself. Treat the mother of your child good the best you can. Develop routines.
If you could write a quick letter to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would you say?
Dear Father,
Thank you for your strength, your spirit of protection and provision. Thank you for leading even sometimes from afar in the way that a father should lead. Thank you for your honesty and letting me grow into my own man.
Vic Jr.
