What does being a father mean to you?

Being a father means being a super hero and a role model. Your child blueprint for life. I work on my imperfections because children emulate what they see more than what they hear.

dear fathers-1000 fearless fathers

Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.

My parents came to America when I was 2 weeks old. I came to America when I was 6 years old so my relationship with my father wasn’t good. My father always tried to be there for me but it felt awkward as a child. Most children have situations where their dad wasn’t around. It was the opposite with me. I didn’t have any emotions towards him so as an adult it affected me a lot.

What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?

Lack of attention was the worst for me. Being the middle child felt as if I were invisible. Between that and no one believing in me played a big part . As a father I try my best to encourage my son in any and every thing he’s into. Building his confidence by always supporting him.

Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey? If so, explain.

one of the biggest obstacles I had to get over in fatherhood is unlearning myself. I think as adults we tend to think there is only one way to do things but then your child show you multiple ways. One day my son gets real frustrated playing with his cars. He’s trying to stack 3 cars on top of each other but they keep on falling. I got frustrated and told him to play another game cause it’s impossible. 5 minutes later he found a way to stack the cars. Made me realize that as a father we can learn from children too. So now I’m more open minded to solutions and problem solving.

What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?

Best advice I can give is put your child first. Know your priorities.

If you wanted to write a quick letter to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would you say?

Dear Father,

All the advice and lectures you gave me as a child I get it now. Thank You
