Lamonte Harris Opens Up About Fatherhood and Prominent Sports Ent.

Tell the Dear Fathers community more about who you are and what you do?

Absolutely, first off thank you for bringing me on your platform. More than anything I am a father of 5 and a happy husband to the girl of my dreams.

Career wise, I am the co-owner of Prominent Sports & Entertainment, a full-service sports agency based here in Dallas. We specialize in Brand Management, (marketing and endorsement deals) and I am an WNBA certified agent, looking to do our part in helping push women’s forward.

I like to say we are in the relationship business and help clients turn those into opportunities.

What inspired you to start Prominent Sports & Entertainment?

Honestly, it all started with my nephew who at the time was a highly sought after high school QB in California where NIL started.

Long story short after conversations with other agencies my family and I decided it would be best to keep things all money in the family. Because of social media and prior relationships, I had, more people were curious about what I was doing with Darius. One thing led to another, I found my love for the sports business, and my brother and I started our own agency.

What are the top three things you want our audience to know about your company?

First off and most important, we are about relationships over transactions.

We work to build genuine, long-term relationships with athletes, brands, and partners, not just chasing the next deal.

We put in the work to find the right opportunities for our clients.

It’s not about saying yes to everything. We look to connect talent with brands, partnerships, and opportunities that actually make sense for who they are and where they’re going. Story telling is key on the Brand Management / Marketing side of what we do.

We help people become more Prominent. That’s the heart of the name. Whether it’s an athlete, creator, entertainer, or business partner, the goal is to help people grow their brand, expand their opportunities, and elevate their presence.

Relationships. Opportunity. Elevation.

Who is Lamonte as a Father?

Love! I love my children more than anything in the world. Where I am not the most perfect man, I do my best to teach them about all my faults and how I learned through those. That lets them see that daddy didn’t always have the right answers, but I figured it out so they don’t have to take the long way like I did to success.

What is your relationship with your dad and how has that impacted the man you are today?

I didn’t grow up with my father so I don’t ever want them to have the feelings that I ever felt. I want them to always be comfortable enough to, and without a doubt know that they can always reach out to me. Even if that is to talk about struggles, figure out confusing times or just to celebrate their success’. I’m available until I physically can’t be.

Has anything you learned from being a Father prepared you for business?

Absolutely! Patience! Growing up, being the youngest of my siblings, I wasn’t always the most patient person. With my children, I’ve had to take my time with their growth, and learning. I can’t fault them for what they don’t know, so I make myself available to teach them. Guiding them through life, and learning lessons together.

Same with my clients. Some while young, this is their first time dealing with money or even having support from someone outside of their parents. This is where I provide services like financial counseling from professionals and sports psychiatrist services from our team Dr. Kenneth Johnson, MD. I treat them like people, my people and not just a check or transaction.

How do you balance entrepreneurship while being the best dad you can be?

My wife! She deserves all the credit first and foremost for that. She allows me to be gone rather that be on the road, out to meetings, games or at home on zoom. She keeps everything together, implementing the culture that her and I have built so when I do get home, the house is filled with love, jokes and positive energy.

This makes it easy and home with my family my happy place. They understand the grind I am on, and the fact that what I do provides, and also us to live our lifestyle. I couldn’t be happier.

Do you feel it’s important to talk to your kids about entrepreneurship and allow them to be involved in your journey building Prominent?

Yes, my children believe it or not are entrepreneurs in their own right. My son, Christian, actually had his own business before me, baking cookies from scratch and selling them at school. Him and I learned how to have our own business together which inevitably helped me create Prominent.

2 of my daughters are are content creators. Creating everything from kids songs to movie reviews for kids movies. This is going to help them build for the future and let them know that whatever they love and can create, there is a lane for that. I am huge about confidence with all my children, but especially with my girls. I teach them about strength, and to be driven. As young ladies, I don’t want them to ever feel they are a step behind, I want them to know their worth and don’t let anyone to treat them any less than that.

What’s next for you and how can people connect with you?

Right now I am working with my team to get into the right rooms, and meeting the right people connected to the WNBA. Women’s sports is evolving , and I am working to make an impact on its growth. Looking to keep up the motion we have created by  continuing to bring awareness to our services, and embrace opportunities , by maintaining our success on the NIL, and Brand Management side.
