What does being a father mean to you?
Everything! It allows me to provide my children with something more that I ever had besides material things, a father to help guide them through their journey.
Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.
I didn’t grow up in your “normal” situation, so I grew up having questions that never got answered about my father. Through all that I was smart enough to not want that same cycle for my children, and started a new way of life.
What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?
Honestly, watching the things around me I can say I learned what NOT to do. I have always moved the total opposite way from which I was raised around. I always knew that wasn’t it for me.
Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey?
Just adapting from being a father of 1, to getting married and becoming a father of 4 in 2 years time. (My wife & I both came in with 1 child then we had 2 girls back to back) Balancing all 4 of their, needs, wants and emotions to some can be overwhelming, but I embrace the challenge.
What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?
Spend time! That is the most important thing you can do, and never forget that you were in their shoes once so it should be easy to relate with their emotions. Be that outlet for them to lean on for advice and guidance.
