What does being a father mean to you?

As I grew up dissecting masculine from feminine energy, I then focused on me as a boy and how one day I’ll be a man. A man who can procreate. Bring another being into the world is merely a test of life. A test that brings the best of you or the worst out in a man. Since I’m a girl dad I overstand raising two girls can be challenging especially as a single dad. Fatherhood is a sport in which you learn to get better at it over time. Being a father means supporting, dedicating, enhancing, and being patient. Making choices that enables the family to find love and peace where the world cant give. Being the foundation to what needs to be received for children to look up to resemble and have an expectation of how significant a Father should be.

Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.

Since I can remember my father has been determined, caring, and great with people. I’ve watched him manage others as a general manager. He developed relationships that helped gain him what he sought out and built up the business to become #1. He’s indirectly instilled into me what some haven’t had an opportunity to experience. That’s being in my life showing me how to be an entrepreneur. How to work for yourself and do your best. Showing me how to lead and play the game. Traveling with family was big for him to show us different places and keeping us connected with family. Saving me from whooping and watching over me when I wasn’t aware. Being that foundation for me.

What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?

The main thing I picked up which stuck with me is standing my ground when I know I’m right. Making sure the family doesn’t need for necessities. Staying connected and working things out because we’re all we got. Discipline is a key factor when growing up. Being without discipline could have altered my life tremendously. I focus on fine-tuning daily which I always stand firm with my children. With consequences in my life, it helps me make wiser decisions.

Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey?

I have faced many obstacles in my journey as a father. The main one is being a single father with a broken relationship with the children’s mom. Having the majority of the responsibilities with a mom that’s in and out of the children’s lives in their adolescence stage took a toll on them. Working my business (Royal Treatment Wellness) and a spa job on top of school, plus baring the weight of two beautiful girls that was mentally unbalanced. It was a lot but I never broke. I had a foundation as a child and it helped a lot. I had and still have two amazing parents in my life. They still show me love can be real if you want it too.

What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?

Depending on a father’s situation, I can say…
-Making sure you put your children first
-Show your children versus telling them to do something.
-Have extreme patience
-Build the children up and let them know when they are wrong (balance)
-Enhance their minds at all times
-Educate your kids with true history and your ancestors
-Meditate with them and show them strength
-Be the man you want them to be or want them to be with

If you could write a quick letter to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would you say?

Dear Popps,
Thank you for showing me what and what not to be. From the first time I heard I looked just like you, I wanted to be just like you as well. You were my role model and I knew I was A Prince from great honor. You’ve shown me how a man can be in this cruel world. You stayed in my life which I am grateful for and understand your struggle. I realize as a man how hard it is to be a stand-up guy but I’m always here for the challenge. I appreciate your life. ASE!
