What does being a father mean to you?
To me, being a father is the ultimate proving ground. It’s the biggest and most rewarding responsibility life has to offer and God calls us to do! The Bible says in genesis 1:28 “God blessed them and said, be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it.” So naturally it comes with extreme joy and pride with every fiber of my being, to have been brought in this world and to now be apart of bringing life in. God is good!
Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.
I had a great experience growing up with my father. The difficulties from learning right from wrong, learning to play and excel in sports, being taught to always aim to be the hardest working person in everything I do, and most importantly, putting God first!! I remember my dad would always say “as for me and my house, we will serve the lord. My relationship with God is by far the biggest impact my father has had on me because I know that with God at my foundation I cannot be moved!
What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?
I had a great experience growing up with my father. Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey?
I’m on day 6 of being a father and I’d honestly have to say that my perception of my life and how it has drastically changed, there are no obstacles at all. Sleeping is very few and far between lol but if I’m losing sleep to make sure my baby girl is good then I’m happy to do it!!
What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?
Soak up and enjoy every second of this unbelievable opportunity. The fact that we even get a shot at life is crazy enough, but then to bring another life into this world is such a blessing!
If you could write a quick letter to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would you say?
Dear Father, Thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for me, for all the extra hours and jobs you’ve worked and the sacrifices you made to make sure we had everything we needed and for always leading by example! I am beyond confident to take on this journey called fatherhood and I wouldn’t be without you! Love you Dad!
