What does being a father mean to you?
To me fatherhood means providing your kids with everything thing need to succeed in life. Not just materialistic things, I mean love, self confidence, mental stability, and encouragement. I strive to be a living example of all those traits on a daily basis. My kids and I daily motto is( Keep GOD First, You Control your own Destiny, and Have a Great Day)
Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.
My father was heavy in the streets. He was around, but at the same time he wasn’t. We aren’t really close as we should be. He would make a lot of broken promises, and apologize by buying materialistic things.
What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?
I actually learned how to become a man( which this might sound negative) by doing the total opposite of my father. I realized growing up all I ever wanted was time, not material things so I make it a priority to have family time with my kids.
Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey?
Yes I have, my wife and I were raised different so the main obstacle is discipline. That is always resolved by communication though.
What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?
I would tell them enjoy the journey because time goes by so fast.
If you wanted to write a quick note to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would it be?
Dear Father, as a man with my own family I understand your outlook on life. Even though I didn’t agree with a lot of it I understand your point of view and I thank your for trying your best and I love you.
