Connecting new and expectant Fathers in communities with high maternal and morbidity rates to needed resources and services.
We’re proud to announce that we’ve partnered with the THRIVE TOUR formerly known as the MOMS TOUR for a celebration of parenting with a focus on mental and maternal health. During this 10+ city tour, Dear Fathers will be curating a safe space for men and fathers to learn about our organization as well as our Dads to Doulas and STR8 Mental programs, while gaining access to the resources needed for them to THRIVE on their fatherhood journey.
This “Power Hour” Pop Up will give black men and fathers a safe space to be vulnerable, fellowship, and learn about mental health and maternal health resources provided by Dear Fathers. This tour will be led by Dear Fathers Director of Community Engagement and Program Strategy, Brad Edwards with the help of Jesse Alex, Co-Founder at Dear Fathers. We’re excited to connect with men in different cities while providing a space for them to grow. See below for our tour dates and use the link to register for your city. We look forward to connecting with everyone!
“I am truly looking forward to this tour. Through our work with Dear Fathers and the programs Str8 Mental and Dads To Doulas, we’ve been able to foster real conversations around paternal health and promote healthy mental health practices. This tour gives us the opportunity to bring those vital discussions to communities across the country, using both data and lived experiences to make a meaningful impact.” – Brad Edwards

ABOUT THE THRIVE TOUR
The THRIVE TOUR is a 2-year Community Baby Shower Tour that will target 50 cities, reaching up to 25,000 expectant mothers in communities with high maternal and morbidity rates. This unprecedented and groundbreaking initiative represents a partnership between The Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in collaboration with A Chance to Learn, and Dear Fathers.
The tour is focused on reducing the unacceptably high maternal mortality and morbidity rates in the U.S., especially among Black and American Indian/Alaska Native moms. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), Black women are three times and AI/AN women are two times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than White women, and over 80% of those deaths are preventable. The M.O.M.S. Tour will intentionally serve those at greatest risk.
