Jennifer Hudson spotlights Dear Fathers program Dads to Doulas, a program created by Director of Community Engagement and Program Strategist, Brad Edwards and Kyra Betts to empower Black fathers during pregnancy and beyond. As part of their commitment to maternal health equity, Pampers is donating $10,000 to support Dads to Doulas and help more families thrive.
ABOUT DADS TO DOULAS
Dads to Doulas aims to equip black men and expectant fathers with the knowledge and skills to advocate for their families from pregnancy through infancy. By providing doula-level education, we strive to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.
Dear Fathers recognizes the profound impact this can have on our community and strives to empower our families from the very start. Our one of a kind doula program is specifically designated to assist, encourage, support, de-stress, maintain, and educate black men and fathers in Maternal and Paternal care.
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
Black women are up to three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. In our region, Black infants die at nearly twice the rate of white infants. Dads to Doulas confronts these deadly disparities by equipping Black fathers with the knowledge and tools to protect their families. Through real-time learning and honest conversation, we unpack how systemic racism endangers Black mothers and babies—and build a community of support that centers healing, advocacy, and thriving.
