5 Ways to Unwind When Stressed

Stress can be a natural part of life. Whether the stress comes from family life, your work life, or studying, it can be something that carries you through or it can be something that breaks you down. However, if you don’t manage it properly, it can become very overwhelming.

No matter where the stress is coming from, stress can take a toll on your physical and mental health. Finding ways to unwind and relax is essential if you want to maintain some balance to your well being. Here are some of the most effective ways that you can unwind when stressed, allowing you to recharge.

Try herbal tea.

Herbal teas are a wonderful way to relax your body and mind, and teas like chamomile, lavender, and peppermint are well known for their calming properties. Drinking a warm cup of tea before bed or even during a stressful moment can really help to soothe your nerves. If you want to add a unique twist and really calm down, you might consider adding cannabis honey. This infusion offers you a mild and discreet way to enjoy the calming effects of cannabis. The honey brings that touch of sweetness that you’re looking for while promoting relaxation without any overwhelming high.

Practice meditation. It’s a simple but effective way to manage stress. Deep breathing and meditation can help you to activate the body’s relaxation response, which lowers your heart rate and helps your mind to stop racing. You can practise deep breathing exercises anywhere no matter whether you’re at home or at work. Meditation, on the other hand, allows you to clear your mind and focus solely on the present moment.

Go for a nature walk.

Sometimes, the best way to destress is to step away from your environment and spend time outdoors. A walk in nature, from a local park to a hiking trail, can have powerful stress relieving effects. Being outside in the fresh air and surrounded by nature can help you to lower your cortisol levels. This is your body’s primary stress hormone and it promotes relaxation. Walking gives you the chance to clear your mind and reconnect with yourself and you can do this while getting some light exercise.

Unplug.

Sometimes, the overwhelming noise of the news and social media apps can really be stressful. Unplugging from technology doesn’t mean you’re disconnecting completely, it just means that you’re having time away from screen time to unwind and give your mind a break. The relentless bad news and ticker tape can be difficult to turn away from, so just put your phone on do not disturb mode and set your device aside for a few hours.

Get into a bubble bath.

A warm bath that smells of wonderful oils or bubble bath can make a big difference to your ability to relax. The soothing heat can help to relax your muscles and the calming effect of water can really calm your mind. Consider adding essential oils and bath salts or even a calming bath bomb. Eucalyptus, Rosemary and scents like lavender can make all the difference to help you to relax.
