Jason Hendricks with TIED DFW Talks Fatherhood, Entrepreneurship, and More.

Tell us more about who you are and what you do?

My name is Jason Hendricks, born and raised in South Dallas, Texas, and a U.S. Army veteran. I serve as the CEO and Founder of TIED Luxury Transportation. In my role as the CEO of TIED Luxury Transportation, I wear many hats throughout my day. Whether assisting the operations team to enhance efficiency or supporting the chauffeur team, I am consistently involved in every department. My commitment to the advancement of people is what motivates and inspires me. As the youngest of 11 siblings, my personal experiences drive my dedication to helping others succeed and overcome obstacles. After my honorable discharge from the Army, I went straight to college to learn the basics of business and entrepreneurship. With my passion for it, I ended up mastering the art of entrepreneurship, earning a Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship from the University of Texas at Dallas. During my studies, I built notable recognition for being overly persistent and received awards such as The Future Texas Business Hall of Fame recipient, The Entrepreneur of the Year award, and community recognition for my prestigious business acumen that helps other entrepreneurs who come from similar backgrounds as me. My friends often say I’m passionate because of my zodiac sign, which is Cancer. I bring that same passion to my business at TIED Luxury Transportation, where I want our clients to feel special when they ride in our luxury Escalades or Mercedes Benz Sprinter limousines—especially on their birthdays. We’re all about giving the best quality of service, and our big goal is to be the best in luxury transportation, making every ride with us unforgettable.

What inspired you to start the TIED Luxury Transportation Brand?

On my 28th birthday, I went out with some friends who were tired of hearing me talk about business. My friend Johnny told me to relax and learn to have a little fun. To take my mind off business, we explored renting a party bus. The prices I found shocked me, and I thought I could do better. So instead, we stayed local and enjoyed each other’s company. At the time, I was enrolled in a program through a partnership with UTD and Future Founders. The next day, I was required to conduct surveys on a business problem and discovered that many people had plans to drink and drive after their outings. Despite people telling me not to take this route, I decided to explore large group transportation. I used my savings, sold my car, and bought an all-white cargo van. It was basic at first, but I started adding seats, walls, AC, and other amenities based on customer feedback. Two months later, I met KG, the owner of Cosign Magazine, through an entrepreneur program at The Dallas Entrepreneur Center. KG was working on building a marketing piece for his business, and I needed help with building my brand. With his assistance, I started receiving calls from celebrities and doing jobs for artists and actresses. During this time, I was taking all my school learnings and applying them to my business. I would ask KG if we could have monthly meetings to evaluate our progress. I realized that the services stood out by turning ordinary transportation into a VIP experience. Focusing on small details like rolling out the red carpet, offering white-glove customer service, and providing snacks and water. Our clients loved these touches. The team started to grow bigger, providing more job opportunities to individuals in underserved communities.

Tell us how you balance Fatherhood and Entrepreneurship?

Balancing being a dad and running a business is like a well-orchestrated dance but truth be told I am still trying to learn the rhythm. For me, there is never a perfect balance between the two because somethings require more attention than others so instead I respect the time that is allocated to what requires it at the time. I focus on spending quality time with my family when I’m with them, making sure I’m fully present. My daughter is my biggest accountability partner as she will be the first to remind me to put my phone away during Kinzie’s time. I couldn’t do what I do without the support of my wife Neshi—she’s my rock. She’s there to cheer me on during the highs and offer support during the lows, which reduces my workload. We team up on everything, from managing daily tasks to making important decisions. Beyond the business stuff, her companionship brings joy to my personal life, and together, we plan for a stable and growing future. Sharing responsibilities both at home and work through strategic delegation helps maintain a healthy balance. Open communication with my family is crucial for understanding and support. I’ve learned to be flexible, say no when needed, and use technology to streamline things. Long-term planning keeps me on track, and taking care of myself ensures I have the energy for both fatherhood and business. As I continue to learn the rhythm of being a father and entrepreneur, I am learning that It’s all about creating harmony, ensuring everything flows together.

Define “Legacy” to you?

Legacy, to me, is about more than just material possessions; it’s a profound transmission of values and experiences to the next generation. It means passing down the resilience and ambition that guided me through life’s challenges. Tangible assets like money, real estate, and other currencies become tools, empowering the coming generations to navigate obstacles more efficiently than I did. I aspire to set new benchmarks, being the first to achieve the highest feats, creating a platform for those who follow me to surpass. To me, the true essence of legacy lies in the impact on people’s lives. It’s about leaving a permanent mark on others, shaping their journeys, and inspiring them to reach new heights. Legacy is the ongoing story of how our values and achievements resonate and continue to make a meaningful difference long after we’re gone.

Who is Jason Hendricks as a Father?

As a dad, I see my role as a guide and supporter for my daughter and future children. I want to create a loving and encouraging space for her to grow and discover who she is. I make an effort to be there for her, listen to what she has to say, celebrate her small and big wins. I believe in teaching her important values like being strong when she can’t figure out how to do something, exposing her to new things in life so that flashy things can’t be used as a unique leverage. Being a Father is a learning journey, and I’m dedicated to being a positive influence in her life. My aim is to help her go through life feeling confident, honest, and purposeful. Being a dad is a big responsibility, but it brings so much joy and fulfillment into my life, and I’m grateful for that. For my future son, I envision a unique opportunity to share insights on navigating as a Black man in America. I want to provide him with the tools to overcome obstacles, emphasizing the values of resilience, integrity, and hard work. It’s about instilling in him a strong sense of identity and confidence. Teaching him how to treat others, especially women, is a core aspect of who I am as a father. I’ll emphasize respect, kindness, and empathy in all his interactions—with his mom, future wife, or any woman he encounters. Being a man, in my eyes, means being a thoughtful problem solver, a provider, and a compassionate leader. Ultimately, my role as a dad is to leave a legacy where my kids, both my son and daughter, grow into individuals who not only navigate life successfully but also embody kindness, resilience, and positive masculinity. It’s about fostering a family culture that values love, understanding, and the strength that comes from treating others with respect.

What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself since becoming an entrepreneur?

One thing I’ve learned about myself since becoming an entrepreneur is that this journey has been transformative in every aspect of my life. It has been a comprehensive self-discovery process that has shaped me into the person I am today. Much like how doctors see the world through a medical lens or musicians through a musical perspective, I now view the world through a business lens. Being an entrepreneur has not just been a career choice; it has become a fundamental part of my identity. It has influenced the way I think about and approach various aspects of life. From how I communicate with others to how I value things and people, the entrepreneurial experience has crafted my worldview. It has taught me the importance of strategic thinking, adaptability, and resilience. This journey has not only been about building a business but also about understanding myself on a deeper level. It has revealed my strengths, weaknesses, and the capacity for growth that I never knew existed. I’ve come to appreciate the power of perseverance and the ability to turn challenges into opportunities. In essence, being an entrepreneur has given me a unique perspective that extends far beyond the business realm. It has become a lens through which I navigate and understand the intricacies of life. I’ve learned that the entrepreneurial mindset is not just about succeeding in business; it’s about approaching life with a continuous willingness to learn, evolve, and make a positive impact on both personal and professional fronts.

What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself since becoming a father?

Since becoming a dad, I’ve discovered a superpower I never knew I had – the ability to balance it all. Juggling being a parent, working, and just living life has been a learning curve. It’s like finding the sweet spot between making sure my family is happy and enjoying the simple joys of life. I’ve surprised myself with how patient I can be, figured out how to manage my time like a boss, and tapped into a new level of love and selflessness. Fatherhood has shown me the ropes of keeping everything in check, even when life gets a bit crazy.

As a Father, do you think it’s important for you to show your children the business side of things and why?

As a father, I absolutely believe it’s crucial to expose my children to the business side of things. It goes beyond the traditional classroom education and provides them with a hands-on, real-world understanding of how things work. Introducing my children to the business world at an early age is like giving them a head start in life. It’s not just about textbook knowledge; it’s about instilling practical skills and a mindset that will serve them well in the future. By showing them the ropes of business, I’m giving them a firsthand look at decision-making, problem-solving, and the value of hard work. In today’s competitive environment, having a holistic education is key. School provides a strong foundation, but there’s a unique set of lessons that can only be learned by experiencing the business world firsthand. This exposure helps them develop a strong work ethic, adaptability, and a sense of responsibility that goes beyond the classroom. Witnessing the business side of things early on can ignite their entrepreneurial spirit and creativity. It teaches them to think outside the box, take initiative, and understand the dynamics of success and failure. These are invaluable life lessons that go beyond what they can learn from textbooks. In essence, showing my children the business side of things is not just about preparing them for a career; it’s about equipping them with the skills and mindset to navigate life successfully. It’s an investment in their future that goes beyond the classroom and gives them a well-rounded perspective on what it takes to succeed in the real world.
