As a teenager, I saw my very first scary movie ‘Thriller’ by ‘Michael Jackson. I really admired the costumes and the choreography but what really scared me was when Michael Jackson transformed into a werewolf. When I got older I began to watch more scary movies like ‘Killer Clowns, Halloween, and even some funny Spoofs like ‘Scary Movie; I would often watch funny tv series like ‘Mad Tv’ that would host a plethora of talented comedians like Will Sasso, Aries Spears, and Jordan Peele just to name a few. Here is the amazing story of Jordan Peele.
Jordan Haworth Peele was born on February 21, 1979, in New York City, New York. Jordan was raised in Manhattan by his white mother; Jordan’s father is black but there is not much known about his relationship with Jordan. At a young age, Jordan sparked an interest in performing and in movies. After elementary school, he attended a private high school and graduated in 1997. Jordan then attended Sarah Lawrence College to pursue puppetry, but comedy was his true passion. Jordan once became a member of a comedy troupe, and he quit school to pursue comedy full-time. Jordan later became a member of the improv theatre Boom Chicago, which is based in Amsterdam. In 2002, Jordan Peele met Keegan along with some other great comedians like Michael Key, and perform on the hit, sketch comedy TV series ‘MADtv.’ Jordan made his impersonations, and comedic charm on the platform for six whole seasons. Kegan and Peele then joined forces to create and star in their own ‘Comedy Central series Key and Peele; Key and Peele’s hit series awarded them a Peabody Award in 2013, and it won an Emmy Award for outstanding sketch comedy series.
In 2016, Jordan married his wife, Chelsea Peretti and together they have a five-year-old son named Beaumont Gino Peele; he was born on July 1, 2017. Jordan wrote and directed his first horror film Get Out and it received some top-notch reviews; the film raised some issues that are still prevalent today, such as racism in America. Jordan also co-created a comedy series called The Last O.G. that starred two of my favorite comedians Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish. In 2019, Jordan followed up with another film that he wrote, produced, and directed called Us; the film follows a middle-class family that discovers that they have doppelgängers, which are like splitting images of themselves, but they are more terrifying. Jordan’s creativity helped bring a new twist to some of our parents’ favorite sci-fi series The Twilight Zone. In 2021 he also produced and co-wrote Candyman, which is considered a sequel to the original Candyman movie in 1992.
Jordan first started out as a comedian, then he transitioned into producing and directing his own content. Jordan Peele is a testament that if you follow your passion, then you will find your purpose.
