What does being a father mean to you?
Being a father means everything to me. Having my daughter at an early age definitely changed my life around.
Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.
My father was everything to me growing up, he has taught me everything that I know. He showed me how to be a great father and husband. Growing up and seeing the relationship my dad had with his kids and with my mom is exactly the way I want to treat my kids and wife.
What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?
Honestly to just be there for my daughter every step of the way. Whatever she wants to do in life I’m going to make sure that I’m behind her 100% of the way.
Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey?
My daughters mom got deployed whenever she was 6 months old. So I had to take care of her by myself for next 5 months. It was challenging at first especially as a new dad but it was a great experience. It definitely matured me and it showed me that it’s not easy taking a care of a kid on your own.
What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?
Time moves fast, so appreciate your kids while they’re young. Also, make sure you’re not taking your focus off of the mom. She just had your child so make sure she being taken care of also!
If you could write a quick letter to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would you say?
Dear Father, I appreciate you for everything that you have done for our family. Thank you for all the advice you have gave throughout the years. Thank you for showing me how to be a great husband.
