What does being a father mean to you?
Fathering children is a mandate to oversee the spiritual, mental, physical, sociological, psychological, and moral development gifted by God Creator. This mandate extends to even those who are not biological yours. A Good Father leads to being called a Good Daddy.
Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.
What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?
I learned how to ensure at all costs my kids have what they need. I also learned that self-care and creating happy moments is essential for me to operate from a place of overflow.
Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey?
I have had to switch jobs when I learned that my family would not be fully accepted into the environment I was employed by. Sometimes employers like your presentation, just not all that really comes with you.
What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?
Seek the mentorship of other fathers and Daddies.
If you could write a quick letter to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would you say?
Dear Daddy,
Thank you for pushing aside your childhood trauma to love me (and my sister) from a special place. Thank you for teaching me about the importance of faith, family, and moving beyond fear. I hope that we can find more time to vacation & laugh. Thank you for showing me how a husband loves his wife. Thank you for reaching me how to own my mistakes and to say “I apologize” no matter how hard that is to do.
