What does being a father mean to you?

Being a father means the world to me , out of everything in life it is what I’m most passionate about. At this point being a father is what defines me.

Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.

I met my biological dad when I was a teenager through dna testing , but the individual who I was raised by under the belief he was my actual dad was incarcerated from my ages 1-24 he tried his best being incarcerated for so long I never felt fatherless I was always proud of my dad but his absence impacted me I didn’t know how to be a man but I thought I was a man who knew it all but I had no actual physical role model in my life to show me how to be a man so I made a lot of poor decisions growing up.

What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?

I always tried to show my children the same unconditional love that I was shown as a child and most importantly my Pops always told me since birth that knowledge is power and I try my hardest to reiterate that to my boys.

Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey?

Yes many obstacles , I started young so I dealt with the immaturity levels not only from their mothers but from myself as well. My youngest son had heart issues at birth which was a huge obstacle and my oldest son lost his mother along with being removed from her and given to me by CPS which was also a huge obstacle for me.

What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?

My advice would be to pay close attention to your child as they grow be understanding to the mistakes they make along the way because in contrary to the old saying they actually don’t know any better and it is our duties to teach them and SHOW them better

If you could write a quick letter to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would you say?

Dear Father even tho our story may not be perfect I am truly grateful for you and all you have taught and done for me I love you unconditionally and don’t ever think twice about that.
