What does being a father mean to you?
Being a father have more than just one meaning to me. Being a father means being setting a good example, always remain positive and be a great model to your kids.
Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.
My experience with my father wasn’t very pleasant. It consist of a lot of physical, mental, emotional abuse.
What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?
Being around my father wasn’t a total waste now that I’m an adult now. All the negativity he’s brought upon me gave me enough knowledge to never be like him towards my kids.
Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey?
Yes I did, it’s been a rough journey with my little man financially. Started off working at a job making $10 an hour barely making enough to pay my bills and for my son’s needs. Idk how I was able to pull through the first 2.5 years of his life but god held me through it.
What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?
Never quit on anything you’re pursuing. You quit on your goals that means you’re quitting on your kids. No matter how hard it gets use your kids as energy to push you through it.
If you could write a quick letter to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would you say?
Dear father, Although you weren’t the best father to me and put me through a lot of abuse. I learned not to be that type of dad, I learned to be better.
