What does being a father mean to you?
Being a father means duplicating the love God has for us, directly onto our children. The “dad” mode is a super hero mode, and it’s one of the highest positions in life. Im honored to be one.
Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.
I didnt have the opportunity of having my biological father with me my whole life. We have a friendship now that I thank God for, the forgiveness taught me what I needed to know about my self and what generational curses to break. I do have a stepfather that made me his only concern. God bless him for stepping in.
What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?
Tone, patience, thoroughness and being open to everything, and even if it isn’t my forte ,at least listening to everything are experiences I brought with me. Also laughter changes everything. Growing up, I’ve been know for bringing a good vibe into a room! Doing that with my son so far is yielding great results.
Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey?
My biggest thing I’ve had to look at in detail and pay attention to is the relationship with my sons mother. Our relationship had to do with the success of him, therefore I do my best to make sure both of us are happy.
What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?
I would tell other fathers, pay attention to detail. Have fun. Love the mother. Be in control of every situation, without being controlling. Keep on learning and growing. Stay healthy.
If you could write a quick letter to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would you say?
Dear Father, I still love and respect you. Thank you for doing the best you can. Stay strong and remember, knowledge and encouragement are two of the best currencies. It pays every time.
