What does being a father mean to you?
It means making sure I am a positive example for my daughter of how she should be treated. Praise her when she succeeds and struggles. Let her know the world is hers and she can do whatever she wants.
Describe your experience with your father growing up and how that impacted you today.
I didn’t have a relationship with my biological father but the man who raised me is who i call my father. He was always there for me and always pushed us to be the best we could be. Don’t settle for less.
What things did you take from your experience growing up into your own fatherhood journey?
He used to always tell me work hard and you can always get what you want. I took that from him. Always he told me to make sure i see the world i think he’s the reason i love traveling.
Have you had any obstacles on your fatherhood journey? If so, explain.
Obstacles yes for sure. For one my sense of smell is crazy and i hated changing diapers for almost a year and a half i didn’t change her diapers. I was terrified and i didn’t want to smell that poop. Plus i didn’t know how to comfort her when she would cry, i wasn’t gentle enough. Now i have perfected it with her.
What advice would you give others new on their fatherhood journey?
Just be patient and remember your child is going to be your reflection so make sure you give them something great to look at!!
If you could write a quick letter to your father, starting with “Dear Father,” what would you say?
Dear pops, i just want to say i love you and i am so glad you made sure all 6 of your kids were ready for what life was going to throw at us. You really took care of us and i will always respect and love you for that.
